Ushebti fragments New Kingdom (4)
A Group of New Kingdom Ushebti Fragments. A front-molded mummiform ushebti where the excess clay around the figure has to a large extent been left untrimmed and made to look like a round-topped stela. The facial features are marred by a chip and salt damage, the figure wears a lappet wig below which two stylized fists can be seen. Foot broken and missing, but still an interesting example. New Kingdom, 19-20th Dynasty. Reputedly from Thebes. H: 12,5 cm. US coll. Acquired in 2001. (M1091) Three smaller fragments, including the upper portion of a small flat-backed mummiform ushebti in Nile silt fabric with traces of a white wash (M1092); another similar fragment (M1166) and a body fragment in well fired red Nile silt fabric (M629). All New Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period. (4) This lot is part of a large private collection of Egyptian antiquities at auction at Lauritz.com Roskilde until 29-31 March 2016. and read .
