Collection of Cowrie Shell Beads. Middle Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period. 1. (M690) A dancer’s bangle or girdle section restrung as found, consisting of 18 cowrie shells with opened backs and 12 udjat eyes in light greenish-blue faience with molded detail from an openface mould; all facing right. The cowries are grouped in threes with two udjats between each group and one at either end. The udjats are all of the same type but with gradiant sizes. New Kingdom to Third Intermediate Period.
