Predynastic cup in black-topped ware

Predynastic Cup in Black-Topped Ware (M1334). A small black-topped ware bowl or cup with somewhat pointed bottom and slightly restricted rim - hand-made and fired from very fine Nile silt. The vessel walls are thick and the outer surface is smooth showing burnishing marks. A small section of the rim was deteriorating due to salt damage. The vessel has been desalinated and the damaged area consolidated with paraloid. Old collection label 59- (?) and painted number 3071. Label is early 20th century. Predynastic Period, Nagada II. H 7 cm. Provenance: From an old English collection acquired in 2004. (M1334).
