Miniature votive pottery from the pyramids

Miniature Votive Pottery from the Pyramids. A large collection of miniature votive pottery consisting of tiny wheel-made plates, a few bowls and jars for the daily offerings of food to the deceased kings (bread and beer). This type of miniature votive vessel is found surrounding the pyramids in the Memphite necropolis and many of these examples are marked with the sites or pyramids at which they were found: Saqqara, NW of Djoser (M745); Saqqara (M1035); Pepi II (M1198ab); Abu Roash (M1199); Dahshur (M1200ab); Abusir (M1201a-d); Giza (M1202a-h). Old Kingdom. Some are intact, others are chipped or worn; together they are a very interesting group. The jars are very unusual. D 3-7 cm Provenance: Most of this lot was collected by L.
