German conductor Leo Blech to John Forsell
LETTERS FROM BLECH TO FORSELL. BLECH, LEO (1871-1958) German composer and conductor. About 50 autograph letters signed, all to John Forsell, written in German and dated in the early 1930ies (to 1935), most signed "Dein Leo Blech" or "Dein Leo", mostly written on his own stationary with his printed name and adress Charlottenburg 2, Berlin, together with 4 telegrams to Forsell.One letter also with music (notes) in a few bars. Some with stamp from "Kungl. Teatern" (Swedish Royal Opera House, Stockholm), and a few marked "Kopia" (=Copy), some marks of old paper clips, folds, minor tears.Blech was the leader of Königliches Opernhaus in Berlin from 1906-37, when he fled to Riga, Latvia and later to Stockholm. He returned to Berlin in 1949 and worked there until 1953.
