He was so taken with Roosevelt's speech that when he returned to Lynchburg he planned to release a special decanter to send to Roosevelt's next inauguration. Roosevelt chose not to run again in 1908, and plans for the decanter were scrapped. In 1984, for the 80th anniversary of Roosevelt's first formal inauguration, a 1,75-liter decanter was released.
